SAN LUIS OBISPO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay) celebrated the signing of two of her bills by Governor Newsom:
"I am proud that Governor Newsom has signed two of my bills aimed at increasing affordability and helping small businesses," said Addis. "AB 1907 helps provide easier, more streamlined health insurance enrollment. AB 2731 allows expanded beverage opportunities for small businesses. These bills represent a year of hard work to improve life across California and along the Central Coast."
The bills signed by Governor Newsom this week, AB 1907 and AB 2731, were introduced earlier this year and received bipartisan support.
AB 1907, the Seamless Care Act, helps prevent gaps in health coverage by automatically enrolling people in a Covered California plan if they are found to be ineligible for Medi-Cal after they have applied through the Statewide Automated Welfare System. This bill builds on work previously championed by Addis, AB 1419.
AB 2731, the Santa Cruz Licenses Act, developed in partnership with Santa Cruz County, will allow restaurants in Santa Cruz County to expand beverage service options, helping local businesses grow and attract more customers year-round.
Both bills will take effect on January 1, 2027.
Governor Newsom has until September 30, 2026, to sign all pending legislation into law.
Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
