Dawn Digest: June 2026

Happy Pride Month! As we celebrate Pride, I'm proud that my Fair Care for ALL Act (AB 1876), a priority bill of the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus, has advanced out of its first Senate committee. The bill helps prevent healthcare coverage discrimination.

Dawn Digest: May 2026

May brings a meaningful pairing: Mental Health Awareness Month and National Pet Month. It's a reminder to ask for help when needed, check in on loved ones, and lead with kindness.

It's also a moment to celebrate the furry companions who brighten our lives and soften hard times with comfort.

Find helpful mental health, pet rescue and other resources on my website.

Dawn Digest: April 2026

As students return from spring break, and the school year begins its final stretch, Californian families need steady leadership and progress. This is why I'm working on the issues you consistently tell me matter. Read more below on how we are celebrating Central Coast successes and tackling our biggest challenges.

I was honored and impressed to meet two high school Poetry Out Loud Champions, Charlotte from Paso Robles High and Antony firm Pacific Grove High who visited the Capitol to compete in the California Poetry Out Loud State Finals. Job well done Charlotte and Antony!

Dawn Digest: March 2026

Spring is a few days away, and the Legislature is in full swing. Committees are convening, bills are moving, and we are tackling the issues that matter to the Central Coast. From protecting our coastline and strengthening access to healthcare to improving consumer protections, this is the season when ideas transform into action. I'm energized by the work ahead and focused every day on delivering results for our region.

Sincerely,

Dawn Digest: January 2026

The 2026 legislative session is underway, and I’ve already introduced two major bills: the Save Our Shores Act and the Protect Our Democracy Act. I'm also advancing the CA Learner Personal Information Protection Act (CALPIPA) to address a growing need for stronger data-privacy protections for students in California. While I work to defend our democracy, protect our coast, and keep our children safe, I'm also focused on lowering the cost of living and putting money back into the pockets of Central Coast families. These are the priorities you have asked me to tackle, and I'm honored to fight for them every day.

Sadly, this year has begun with profound pain for many communities, including ours. The killing of Renee Nicole Good and recent militarized raids on the Central Coast have left families grieving and afraid. We must honor Renee's humanity while also confronting the harm done when families are torn apart and fear for their safety. Protecting the dignity and well-being of every person in our communities is our shared responsibility.
