SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay), announced that the California State Assembly is honoring Yessenia Echevarria of Paso Robles as the 2026 "Woman of the Year".
Yessenia Echevarria, a respected community advocate in San Luis Obispo County has dedicated years of service to addressing healthcare access gaps for Spanish-speaking residents throughout the region. She is the founder Mujeres De Acción, an organization that serves predominantly Latino families through healthcare advocacy, immigration support, educational advocacy, and cultural programs that build connections and strengthen communities across the county.
"I am incredibly proud to recognize Yessenia Echevarria as the 2026 Woman of the Year for the 30th Assembly District. Yessenia's work strengthens our communities every day," said Addis. "Through founding and leading Mujeres de Acción, Yessenia opens doors to healthcare access, uplifts women, and truly supports immigrant families across San Luis Obispo County. As a leader, Yessenia is a true example of service that we can all aspire to."

The "Woman of the Year" awards are coordinated by the California Legislative Women's Caucus and recognize outstanding women in each legislative district across California.
Today's honorees will be recognized on the California State Assembly Floor.
Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
