SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay), today introduced Assembly Joint Resolution 26 (AJR 26), urging the United States Congress to initiate impeach proceedings against Kristi Noem following a series of criminal investigations, dangerous policies, and actions taken under her leadership of the United States Department of Homeland Security.
"Americans deserve leadership focused on integrity and transparency," said Addis. "Instead, what we are witnessing is a Department of Homeland Security that has lost focus and accountability. Under Secretary Noem's leadership, public safety has been overshadowed by political optics and self-promotion, all while the dangerous deaths of far too many continue to Trump national headlines. If the President is unwilling to act, then congress has a constitutional responsibility to do so."
AJR 26 now awaits referral to committee.
Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
