Addis Reacts to Governor Newsom's Budget Proposal

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay), released the following statement following the release of Governor Gavin Newsom's budget proposal:

"The Governor's proposed budget shows real progress with less than the projected deficit and proposed continued investments in vital education, mental health, reproductive programs and more. However, the federal tariffs, lack of ACA subsidies attacks on Medicaid, and attempt to erase housing, childcare and social service programs remain a huge danger to our economy. I continue to fight for what Californian's truly need including strong healthcare and true access to that care. In California, we need a budget that puts our communities – not special interests – first. Stay tuned for our Budget Subcommittee No. 1 on Health hearing schedule for more."

Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
