SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Dawn Addis (D-Morro Bay), released the following statement following Governor Gavin Newsom's final State of the State address:
"Governor Newsom's State of the State made clear that California moves forward by investing in people through education, public safety, and career pathways that support working families.
We've reached real milestones, no doubt about that. But, momentum is not the same as completion.
As the Trump administration works to roll back hard progress, Californians continue to feel the strain of rising costs, limited healthcare access, and economic uncertainty. That's why this year my focus is on putting money back in the pockets of Central Coast families; fighting for utility affordability, healthcare, and strengthening accountability across government institutions to uphold our democracy.
The fight ahead is real, and I stand ready. I look forward to reviewing the Governor's budget tomorrow."
Dawn Addis was elected to the California State Assembly in 2022 to represent the coastal 30th Assembly District, which includes San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties. She is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health.
