Rural Doctor Shortage Could Get Worse Under New Federal Student Loan Rules, Lawmakers Warned

Committee chair Dawn Addis, D-Morro Bay, said access to doctors is one of the biggest issues in her district on the Central Coast.

"I've heard from people almost daily that they would like to see a doctor. They have insurance," Addis said. "They go to make an appointment and they simply can't get an appointment because there's just not enough doctors in the system."
